The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted claims that it did not accept Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT) graduates at its orientation camp in Gombe State.
Allegedly, graduates of polytechnics who majored in SLT were unable to gain entry because they lacked certification from the National Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT).
Mrs. Chinwe Nwachuku, the state's NYSC coordinator, branded the accusations as "untrue and baseless" in her response.
Everyone who showed up for registration at Gombe was able to get into the orientation program; no SLT graduate was turned away.
I do not know of any SLT graduate who did not register while at Gombe camp. Those in possession or absent of a valid license were both recorded.
"I understand that some of them did not have the proper paperwork, but we had to register them nevertheless because that was the order from headquarters.
"As far as the Gombe camp is concerned, nobody was denied registration," she stated.
