Representing the Delta North senatorial district, Senator Ned Nwoko has said that he is deeply committed to the national welfare and growth of his constituents, which is why he supports the creation of Anioma State.
During the weekend's Anioma stakeholders summit in Asaba, the senator made the declaration.
All nine of the senatorial district's LGAs sent representatives to the stakeholder conference.
As far as Nwoko is concerned, his dedication lay in helping the Anioma people progress. While passionately advocating for the establishment of Anioma State, Nwoko refuted rumors that he was interested in running for governor.
The Ndokwa people, he added, should be the first governor of Anioma State. The Ndokwa are economically significant due to their oil, but they have been neglected for a long time.
Obtaining independence for my people is my primary objective. The Ndokwa people should be represented in the inaugural governorship of Anioma state. Senator Nwoko lamented that the Ndokwa region, which is host to three LGAs that produce oil, is still uncared for and has seen significant environmental deterioration.
As an example of how statehood can drive development, he cited the rise of Asaba from a small village to a prosperous city after it became the capital of Delta state, and drew a parallel to the formation of Delta state from the former Bendel State.
Senator Nwoko listed the increased representation in the state assembly, house of representatives, and senate as some of the political benefits of establishing Anioma state.
The Dein of Agbor, HRM Benjamin Keagborekuzi I, spoke in support of Ned Nwoko's position on the establishment of the state.
The struggle for Anioma State is in order and should be promoted by everyone, he claims, "so long as it's not an illegitimate quest and not intended to disintegrate the country."
As a special guest at the conference, the king emphasized that the efforts to establish Anioma State should remain non-partisan.
Chief Dan Okenyi, who is also the chairman of the Local Organising Committee, stated that the purpose of the summit was to unite all Anioma stakeholders in order to reach a shared goal and work together to achieve an old dream.
He noted that important resolutions to revitalize the Anioma State establishment bill in the Senate were anticipated to be reached at the summit.
