According to Marca, if Alvaro Carreras were to sign with Real Madrid during the upcoming summer transfer window, Manchester United would receive compensation from Benfica.
Carreras signed a permanent deal with Benfica last year, leaving Manchester United.
But when this weekend's 2025 FIFA Club World Cup concludes, Real Madrid hopes to announce the left back's deal.
The 22-year-old's transfer is nearing completion with both Madrid and Benfica.
Prior to his departure at the end of last season, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti had three players on his want list, including Carreras. Ancelotti will now be coaching Real Madrid.
When Carreras was fourteen years old, he transferred from Deportivo La Coruna to Real Madrid.
After departing the Spanish La Liga powerhouse in 2020, he signed with Manchester United.
However, he never played a professional game for United and eventually left Old Trafford in 2024.
Carreras' career took off after a disappointing loan stint with Granada; he then transferred to Benfica from Manchester United.
