I was confined in my room. I needed to change careers, but I didn't know where to begin.
I was at that traditional professional turning point, wanting to advance but running out of fuel.
Then, in a WhatsApp status that said, "PalmPay Purple Woman 2.0: Accelerating the Future of Payments – Women, AI, and Fintech," same buddy tagged me.
I often noticed it and chose to ignore it.
I thought of the PalmPay Purple Woman article during a difficult workday.
On a whim, I returned, saw the flyer online, and submitted an application.
To be honest, I didn't have high expectations, but things began to change as soon as I received the call informing me that I had been chosen as one of the 100 fortunate ladies.
The three days of the PalmPay Purple Woman 2.0 Masterclass were jam-packed with information, with an emphasis on project management, UI/UX, HR, data analysis, and digital marketing. I hadn't previously investigated these topics.
Women leaders told their tales. Women in technology, juggling work and family, and creating empires. It was really energizing in addition to being educational.
At that point, I realized that PalmPay was more than simply a standard finance software that let users pay their bills and make payments; it was also promoting financial inclusion and making investments in people's growth by helping them acquire new skills, venture into uncharted terrain, and open up new opportunities.
PalmPay's commemoration of International Women's Day included that event as well.
"Accelerate Action" was more than just a catchphrase; it served as a reminder that women are not simply waiting in the wings; we are already influencing the direction of fintech, and platforms like as PalmPay are paving the way for our success.
The shocking news that just ten applicants would be chosen for a six-month internship at PalmPay then emerged.
I heard my name—number 10—with sweaty palms, a beating heart, and a parched tongue. I couldn't believe it at all. I knew something had changed as I went on to that platform, shaky legs and all.
Right now? My three-month internship in the marketing division has been nothing short of spectacular. My group is excellent.
My bosses are sincere. I never would have imagined how much I've learnt.
I feel like I'm getting closer to something tangible every day. I would have laughed a year ago if someone had said that I would want a 9–5 job. Hard.
However, I am really thankful for that single post. A post that provided me a lift in my career, one that I nearly disregarded, and one that brought me to PalmPay.
Even something as simple as a tagged post might be the first step toward saying yes to more.
