NPFL: Remo Stars overcome Kano Pillars to extend lead



Following their 2-1 triumph over Kano Pillars, Remo Stars widened their lead atop the NPFL table.

Sikiru Alimi, an experienced striker, put Daniel Ogunmodede's team ahead after five minutes.

A beautiful cross by Segun Ogunribide found Alimi, who calmly tapped the ball into the back of the net.

In the 40th minute, following a rebound from Alimi's attempt that the Pillars goalie had saved, Ibrahim Abubakar headed home a low pass to make it 2-0 Remo Stars.

In the last seconds of the first half, Abba Adam scored a stunning headed goal for Kano Pillars, meeting Abdullahi Ali's cross. This cut the deficit to one goal.

Adam now has five goals in the league this season.

In Maiduguri, El-kanemi Warriors came out on top over Nasarawa United, 1-0, thanks to a strike from Umar Al Amin just before halftime.
