Divided opinion Actor and self-proclaimed cleric Yul Edochie of Nigerian cinema fame has stated that many pastors in the country feel a divine calling to practice indigenous medicine.
He claims that the negative portrayal of indigenous doctors in popular culture and the West led many pastors to forsake their calling to practice medicine.
The actor suggested that some Nigerian clergymen give up Christianity and train to be indigenous doctors.
He stressed that native doctors aid humanity and that they have a spiritual calling.
"Many pastors today actually have the calling to be native doctors but they are refusing to answer the call bcos oyibo people brainwashed us to believe it is evil," Edochie posted on his Instagram page.
Another factor that has helped portray native doctors in a negative light is Nollywood.
Being a native doctor is a calling from on high; it's a sign that you've been selected by God to aid others.
Opposing evil is a genuine native doctor. Except when he chooses to do evil. Just as a preacher can choose to do evil, anyone can.
