According to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, can only be defended by individuals who are completely out of their minds.
It seems that Akpabio was responding to the feud between Wike and Siminalayi Fubara, Wike's successor as governor of Rivers State, when he spoke on Friday at the public lecture and book launch held in Port Harcourt to mark Wike's birthday.
During his speech, the Senate President, who was invited as a Special Guest of Honour, criticized Governor Fubara for how he has handled the state's political issue, focusing on his interactions with lawmakers.
Drawing on his experience as governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio underlined the significance of strong ties with legislative leadership.
For the benefit of individuals who are politically illiterate, we were taught that the legislature has the power to transvest sexes.
My dread of the House of Assembly was the worst part of being governor.
That is why Akpabio maintained strong cooperation with his Speaker, he stated.
Noting that "No one in their right senses would sustain a quarrel with Wike," he recognized Wike's capacity to swiftly mend fences following any differences.
"Your leadership as governor and now as minister has left an indelible mark on Nigeria's political landscape," Akpabio said Wike in a direct address. The bridges you've constructed are evidence of your dedication to development and harmony.
