Ends new terrorist outfit, Lakurawas, with deployment of CDS Musa's operations brigade

To confront the Lakurawas terrorist gang, which is spreading mayhem in various regions, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa dispatched a Special Operations Brigade to Sokoto and Kebbi regions on Friday.

Officially announced on the X microblogging site, this was made known by the Nigerian Army Headquarters.

The announcement states that the deployment will build on the military's previous successes in the preceding operations of Operation Forest Sanity III.

Information gathered indicates that the military has previously conducted operations targeting certain areas and forests, including Rumji Dutse, Tsauna and Bauni, East of Sarma, Malgatawa, Gargao, Magara Forest and Tsauna, Kaideji, Nakuru, Sama, Sanyinna, Kadidda, Kolo, and Dancha Villages in Tangaza, Illela, and Binji Local Government Areas.

The devastation of 22 camps, the elimination of multiple terrorists, and the seizure of four firearms, 409 rounds of PKT 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and 94 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were the outcomes of the operations, as reported by the Army Headquarters.

On Friday, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, who is also the commander of Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and the general officer commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, spoke to the troops on behalf of Major General Oluyinka Soyele, who is the theater commander.

The total neutralization of the Lakurawas cult was to be the mission of the soldiers, he ordered them.

The need of safeguarding the lives and property of law-abiding residents was underscored by Brigadier General Ajose, who stressed the need to adhere to engagement protocols.
