United have refuted rumors that manager Erik ten Hag benched Alejandro Garnacho for Southampton's match because the defender liked a Cristiano Ronaldo social media tweet.
Earlier this week, two conversations with Ronaldo surfaced, in which the five-time Ballon d'Or winner slammed Ten Hag for being too ambitious.
Perceptive admirers saw that Garnacho was among those who liked one of those posts.
United will not be starting the Argentine winger in their match against Southampton.
And football trade specialist Fabrizio Romano said, "Man United sources guarantee that Alejandro Garnacho has not been dropped today due to his social media activity after liking Cristiano Ronaldo's comments on Ten Hag."
According to Erik ten Hag, it was a tactical and technical decision.
