Super Falcons finish first in Group B at WAFCON 2024 following draw with Algeria

In the last match of their group at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria's Fennecs held Nigeria's Super Falcons to a scoreless draw.

Having won all three of their Group B matches, Justine Madugu's squad claimed first place.

On Friday, the nine-time winners will square off against Zambia's Copper Queens in the quarterfinals.

Even though Nigeria had most of the ball, Algeria's defence held firm.

Nigeria had further first-half goal opportunities, including ones from Ifeoma Onumonu and Jennifer Echegini.

After halftime, the Super Falcons were unable to generate many scoring opportunities.

With five points after three matches, Algeria came in second place in their group.

The other group match ended in a 1-1 tie between Botswana and Tunisia.
